Case Summary
On October 1, 2014, William Hoffman was appointed temporary receiver for Nationwide Automated Systems Inc., its subsidiaries and affiliates, pursuant to an Order entered by the United States District Court for the Central District of California in an action filed by the Securities and Exchange Commission against Defendants Nationwide Automated Systems, Inc., Joel Gillis, Edward Wishner, and Relief Defendants Oasis Studio Rentals, LLC, Oasis Studio Rentals #2, LLC, and Oasis Studio Rentals #3, LLC.
On February 24, 2020, Aaron J. Kudla was appointed successor receiver to complete the tasks necessary to conclude the receivership by the Court and William Hoffman was discharged from his duties pursuant to Court Order (Dkt. 383).
Criminal Case
On December 16, 2014, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California filed a criminal case against Joel Gillis and Edward Wishner, charging them with mail fraud, wire fraud, and conspiracy. The charging document, called an “information,” can be found on the Court Documents page of this website. The criminal case is proceeding at the same time as the civil enforcement action initiated by the Securities and Exchange Commission in September 2014 and the Receiver is continuing to perform his duties pursuant to the Court’s orders.
